A normal tire cord (Reference BK10) has no self-vulcanizing effect. It is therefore necessary to use a vulcanization fluid (608F/8OZ or 658F). The Safety Seal tire cords (Reference 613501) have a self-vulcanizing effect and are also TUV approved.

A misplacement is that a standard tire cord is a final repair, while this is not the case. A final tire repair is done from the inside, with, for example, a combination plaster. Repair from the outside (often with a tire cord) is an emergency repair.
